Welcome Project Workshop (limited space, RSVP required)
Join women from The Welcome Project, a social enterprise and makerspace for and by the refugee and immigrant women of Cincinnati, to learn the art of needle-felting. For the past two years a group of women refugees and immigrants have been meeting to process, dye, and felt alpaca wool, sourced locally from Tikkun Farm. Now we’d like to share this fascinating process with you! During this workshop you will learn about the process of harvesting and carding wool and how it is processed and dyed. Then you’ll get to try your hand at needle felting your own creations. You will be given the opportunity to work with many color options of wool to make a small item – an applique, an ornament, a piece of jewelry – whatever you think up! You will also have the opportunity to purchase and decorate wool dryer balls if you would rather take home something more finished and immediately useful.
